No agenda, no goal and just be. To distract your mind or making up your mind it's great to change daily routines and get a totally different focus in a nature surrounding.
To come away from your thoughts you help with on our farm. Discover what actions you like, what is happening with you and learn during enjoying your time with us.
Escape to re-shape your life
Many volunteers has come to us to take a break from their daily routines to discover a new way of living. Remarks like: 'I want to create something with my hands' or 'I want to be in the nature' and specially 'I want to live on a small farm and grow my own food, live off grid'.

Sitting behind a screen day in day out is for many people daily life for their work. But after a while they they recognize they want more and don't see themselves sitting in a building till their pension.

To support these thoughts an feelings we have created a volunteer program, where you help with basic work in the rhytm of the season. The nature decide the planning of the day, where you can learn a lot about living in the nature and you will get in contact with your feelings.

If there is a need to talk about what is going on in your life, it is possible to book one hour coaching per week with Carolina, where she can walk together with you on your path for a moment.

You will have fun and you will be tired at the end of the day!
To spend time with our wonderful dogs, our smart donkeys and living in our paradise surrounded by nature will give you a special time of your life!
OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
For our volunteer program is it very important for us to be honest and have respect. Our farm is developed out of love for our animals and nature, the basics for a good time with us. Our dogs and donkeys can learn you a lot if you are open to recieve. Treat them with love and wonder will happen!

If you wish to volunteer with our program, we require an application to be submitted and once approved, a signed agreement that our rules are understood and will be followed. The safety of our animals is highest priority.
Volunteer duties include: cleaning, feeding, walking/training the dogs and donkeys, planting & harvesting tulip bulbs, gardening jobs and eventual maintenance jobs like painting. If you like to help us during our Tulip festival during the end of May till mid June you can help in our restaurant and other jobs. The minimum age for volunteers is 18. TWO VOLUNTEERS FROM ONE GROUP IS THE MAXIMUM.

We prefer long-term volunteers for a minimum of one month.

Working times are flexible due to the surprises from weather. During the morning meetings the planning for the day will be discussed by a cup coffee/tea. Time is to relax or enjoy adventures around the area will be there also of course.

Included: accomodation on the farm and food, where you cook mainly for yourself in a kitchen for volunteers.

Do you prefer vegetarian or vegan food, please look for another place, our program includes meat.

Price per week: 1500 kr during summer / 2500 kr during winter.

START DAY IS MONDAY
Monday’s we start with new volunteers and ALL volunteers get an Induction Course on the first day at 10:00am. So arrive latest at the Sunday before.
There is always plenty of the unexpected at Farm Backsjön — we start out the day with good intentions to accomplish specific things but working with animals or mistakes in the weather forecast everything can change! But first and foremost — it is always about what is best for the animals!!! During the morning meeting everyone get updated daily with each volunteer’s responsibilities.

BASIC PROGRAM
9:00 - morning meeting with coffee or tea
9:30 - duties include: cleaning, feeding, walking and/or training the dogs and donkeys, gardening or other tasks in maintenance or building projects.
13:00 - lunch on-site
14:00 - back to work!
18:00 - finish the day to plan your evening
COSTS
SEVEN DAY VOLUNTEER STAY:
1500 kr during summer / 2500 kr during winter.
ONE MONTH VOLUNTEER STAY:
Price per month: 3000 kr during summer / 5000 kr during winter.
Lunches can be organized together, when each help out with preparation, planning and cleanups.
TRANSPORT TO AND FROM THE FARM
Volunteers are responsible to organize transportation to and from the Farm. We can pick you up and bring you to Sollefteå busstation. Alternativ is taxi service.

WHY SHOULD YOU PAY TO VOLUNTEER?
Having a volunteer program costs us time and money. Time in terms of the demands on us to oversee and supervise volunteers and the increased utilities costs. We will do our best to ensure that our volunteers experience the full spectrum of Farm Backsjön life in the nature!

HEALTH COVERAGE
If medical attention is required during your stay on Farm Backsjön, you will be responsible for any costs incurred should medical attention or hospitalization be necessary. Please check with your insurance company and/or obtain health coverage through a travel insurance policy before arriving to Backsjön.
It is the policy of Farm Backsjön that volunteers have health coverage during their stay. WE REQUIRE DOCUMENTATION OF THIS COVERAGE PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT VOLUNTEERS WITHOUT THE REQUESTED HEALTH DOCUMENTATION.

DISCLAIMER FOR VOLUNTEERS
As a volunteer at Farm Backsjön, you are not in an employment or similar contractual relationship of any kind, that would provide workers compensation or any insurance coverage. By signing this note* you confirm, that you have your own valid insurance cover in place to fully cover your volunteer participation at Farm Backsjön, particularly regarding up to date, health and accident insurance and third-party liability coverage. *Provided with arrival.
You hereby waive any current or future claim you might have against Farm Backsjön in relation to you participating in its operation as a volunteer, for all possible legal reasons and all grounds, and to the extent legally possible. This waiver is made and valid regardless of the fact that you might not actually have insurance in place as guaranteed above, or Farm Backsjön might have independently contracted insurance for its operations.

ACCOMODATIONS
We offer a residence on the farm, a kitchen and a bathroom. We can offer activities in the nature and for an adventure outside Backsjön we can give you many tips in the area, where we offer you transport to Sollefteå.

APPLICATION
Please fill out and submit the following form. We will email with our response and if approved, we will include information about what is useful to bring as well as a contract for signature outlining the rules, deposit due, payments and our expectations for volunteers. PLEASE NOTE: ALL members of a proposed party must complete an application and note names in the below form.
